Thoughts from PRT's Managing Director
Prairie Repertory Theatre 2009 is opening your fourth production, Annie Get Your Gun, this week. The show has turned out beautifully. Even though some of us have been doing this for many years, it is always amazing to see how much a dedicated group of young people can accomplish in a relatively short time. This year’s company has been exceptional. We are all proud to be able to share our work with you.
Even as we are running Annie Get Your Gun here in Brookings, preparations are being made to move our season to the Brandon Performing Arts Center. It takes a huge amount of organization and communication to successfully transport and remount all four productions. It becomes a different sort of work and learning experience for the company. Numerous adjustments must be made by actors, musicians, designers and technicians in order for our productions to “fit” a different theatre. Actors must continually review their lines, lyrics and choreography in order to be ready for the second run of each show. It is always interesting to watch our young performers grow and improve their performances as they remount each production.
If you have not attended a PRT show in Brandon, we encourage you to join us for an evening or two. The theatre is beautiful and our company always looks forward to having our friends in the Brandon area join us. Season tickets are also still available for our Brandon run.
The casts of Godspell and Annie Get Your Gun will be performing musical selections from those shows at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival on Saturday, July 11 at 12:00 in the Pioneer Park bandshell. Check the Arts Festival guide for discount coupons for our Brookings run of Annie Get Your Gun.
We look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
